Metropolitan Police have launched a public appeal for help in identifying a man dressed as a lobster who assaulted another man outside Alexandra Palace during the World Darts Championship. The victim, attacked in December 2025, is still suffering from significant injuries seven months after the incident, detectives have confirmed.
The assault occurred on the evening of 13 December 2025 outside the north London venue, which annually hosts the World Darts Championship. The suspect, wearing a full-body lobster costume, struck the victim with such force that he was knocked unconscious, according to police reports. The victim suffered serious injuries and required hospital treatment.
In an effort to trace the assailant, officers have released a CCTV image showing a man in a distinctive lobster outfit. The costume, featuring red shell colours, claws, and antennae, would have made the suspect highly conspicuous among the crowds attending the event. Police are urging anyone who recognises the individual or has any information about the incident to come forward.
The World Darts Championship at Alexandra Palace, often referred to as the pinnacle of the sport, attracts tens of thousands of fans each year. Spectators frequently wear fancy dress costumes, ranging from superheroes to animals, creating a festive and often eccentric atmosphere. However, the violent attack has marred the event's reputation and prompted a strong response from law enforcement.
Metropolitan Police have emphasised the seriousness of the assault and are treating the case as a priority. The force has not disclosed whether any suspects have been arrested but stated that the investigation is ongoing. Detectives are following several lines of enquiry, including reviewing additional CCTV footage and speaking to witnesses present at the scene.
The victim, whose name has not been released, continues to deal with the physical and emotional consequences of the attack. Seven months on, he is still receiving medical care for his injuries, police said. The long-term impact on his health and wellbeing remains a concern for investigators.
Anyone with information about the assault or the identity of the man in the lobster costume is asked to contact the Metropolitan Police on 101 or provide details anonymously through Crimestoppers. Police have urged the public not to approach the suspect if spotted but to report any sightings immediately.
