The North-West Regional Development Agency is preparing a project for an AI-dedicated supercomputer, aimed at the more than 100,000 small and medium-sized enterprises in the region. The announcement was made by ADR Nord-Vest director Marcel Boloș at the "AI, Cloud & Resilience" marathon organized by Profit.ro, an event for which CloudXEdge is the exclusive partner.

According to Boloș, the infrastructure will help SMEs optimize their operations and develop new products. The idea is for companies in the north-west of the country to be able to use the computing capacity of a supercomputer, without having to invest in such equipment themselves, which is costly.

A central element of the plan is the specialists who will serve the businesses. They will be trained at a university in the European Union and, after completing their training, will provide direct support to entrepreneurs in the region in using artificial intelligence-based technologies.

The project comes at a time when public institutions are seeking to strengthen their capacity to support the local business environment, with digitalization and the adoption of artificial intelligence among their priorities. Details regarding the budget, the implementation timeline and the method of access for companies were not presented in the announcement.
